Growing up as a kid in 1970s Britain, we all watched Dr Who, it was a huge part of our lives. When the reboot came, a few episodes in, I realised that I actually loved the Doctor, like an old friend. And now, of course, howl love crying at an accessible Tardis (well, almost, those double-cambered swoopy bits won't work) and hoping Shirley Anne Bingham makes a regular appearance (praying for a UNIT spinoff with all those great woman, surely this has to happen).

As for my imagination, as a person often housebound by ME I can drift off for hours creating an exciting world and though at times I've chastised myself for lingering too long, I'm now luxuriating in it and using it to fuel my creativity in the real world xxxx

Also I'm so happy to hear that you found that you loved the doctor like an old friend. That is exactly how you should feel about the doctor, in any generation!

I must say I got choked up hearing the actress who plays Shirley talk about the accessible TARDIS. But I did agree, it could have been more sci-fi! The only explanation that works for me is that they were trying to keep it retro with the outside vibe? But of course they better address that! And she better get inside the TARDIS ASAP! :-)

Hi Gaelynn,

Thanks so much for retweeting my tweet about us getting down to the facts soon about Doctor Who's Davros and the newer displays of disabled characters in our beloved Dalek universe. I'm looking forward to it and what I secretly hope is that it will get the attention of Russell Davies, the show runner because I would love to see you interview him. I know you want to and I want that too! We can at least try!

Also, if you have seen me mentioning Camille and Kennerly Kitt, aka 'The Harp Twins'. I'm going to interview them in May before their US tour.

Cheers from Cali!

Haha it would be a dream if RTD saw our interview, cuz YES I would love to chat with him! Never hurts to dream big! And thanks for telling me about The Harp Twins! I had never heard of them before and now I am going to check them out... I am glad you're interviewing them! How did you get connected? Woo-hoo, thanks for all you do to promote the arts!

When I asked Gaelynn if I could do an interview on a study of arts and performing arts as part of a study of shared traits of success on my Youtube channel, I had no idea I was going to make a new Doctor Who friend. Small world! Happy 40th Gaelynn! EXTERMINATE! Haha!

It is a small world indeed, if you got a time traveling police box! 😉

A belated happy birthday! I believe I've mentioned that after 1974 I was never able to reconcile myself to the post-Pertwee Doctor, but the question now keeping me awake (literally) is 'Will there be a fiddle & looping pedal cover of the iconic theme tune to see us through the bleak midwinter when the Soo Locks are closed and there's no ore boat traffic on Duluth Harbor Canal Cam?' Oh, fine. I'll make do with reruns while you concentrate on your memoir, and I'll just hope that performance lies in some future the TARDIS may visit one day when the world is ready for a Largroff incarnation with a grasshopper companion.

I love the idea of a live-looped violin cover of the Doctor Who theme! I am putting it on my "brain shelf" for later... :)

I’ve started ‘chronicals of narnia’ and it’s so fun! I usually only read much more “important” books! I’m usually pretty good at not having real ‘guilty pleasures’ but it feels good to keep an open and lighthearted mind.

Yes, that's how I felt at first about reading all my King Arthur novels. I usually prided myself in reading nonfiction, but over time I have realized that entertainment through literature is totally valid and actually quite life-affirming!

A couple of days ago we watched a Dr. Who episode that turned out to be a cliff-hanger. So we had to watch another, even though it was getting quite late. We've come a long way, baby! (Very old ad jingle...)

Hi Gaelynn,

We are getting slammed here with high winds.

https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/california-atmospheric-river-storms-flooding-rain-02-04-24/index.html

Tomorrow I look forward to meeting with you and before we meet, I will interview Kyle Gray Young. So it's a day with two interviews. I just hope we do not lose power and we have twice for a few minutes now. Wind already ripped the top off of our house (it's insured) but power is an issue.

Can not wait to talk to you about Davrosgate, your writing progress, switch to substack, cons and Doctor Who. Will be a brilliant day provided that we have electricity which is uncertain at this point. If I am not on zoom with you, that would be why.

Cheers from Cali.

Got your note, thanks so much. All is well. We evacuated to Reno Nevada with a friend in his helicopter, then tried to come back and got grounded for winds near Sacramento, which worked out well since we work here on weekdays. House in San Fran Presidio might be a total loss, not sure. There is no roof and the garage doors blew off along with our neighbors car. It looked like our garage doors wrapped around the car so it's all going to be an insurance debacle. But it's calm and safe where we are. Sorry as I did not mean to cause alarm. That was pretty scary and I hope our neighbors are all safe. The kiddos are safe and getting lots of hugs.

Hi Gaelynn, 'Dream Big' is soooo true. There is a lesson right there which is not on the surface but can come through when people see others accomplish something that might seem to be out of reach. Like me being able to interview you for example. I feel 100% certain that RTD will watch our discussion because of the nature of it and I hope and pray for you that it may lead to your dream of interviewing him. Psst. I'm going to message some people that work for him and tell them to tell him to watch it once we have it edited and ready and live. He's gonna see it, I have no doubt.

On the Harp Twins, I simply watched one of their Youtube videos, loved it, started commentary with them in the comments section, then contacted them through their website and their assistant like your wonderful Carrie got back to me to better understand the nature of my request. And that was it. Dream big, try, don't be discouraged when something doesn't work, and enjoy being able to educate and have fun when something does work.

On another note before this gets to long, I had a recent opportunity to have my voice heard on accessibility. I was invited as a member of multi local programs to submit opinions, advice and commentary to our city government(s) in regards to suggestions for improvements in the current recreational, arts and performing arts programs for 2024. I repeatedly filled in all of the survey questions that each and every venue, event, regardless of where (Parks vs. other venues including stage facilities) need to be 100% accessible as the #1 priority, on the same level as having drinking water available. No 'if's', no 'ands', no 'buts' and no excuses.

Without learning of and being inspired by your activism and speaking in such matters and having that in the back of my mind, I might have missed the opportunity to shout my input 'from the rooftop' so to speak. Thank you for that. Your agenda is being heard over here in San Francisco, San Francisco County, Davis California and Yolo County. Thank you!

Cheers from Cali.

Greg
